A big snow and other happenings

We had a pretty big snow this past Sunday night and Monday morning, and Carrie got to stay home Monday and enjoy it. Grandma and Grandpa Gibbs came over and played in the snow with Carrie and Grandpa Tom took Carrie for a ride in the little red wagon and Carrie got to help make a big snowman!

We've had a rough few weeks with lots of stomach bugs and nasty colds. Carrie had a really bad stomach bug and began throwing up and it lasted for a full 24 hours. Then came all the other fun stuff that comes with stomach bugs, which lasted for four or five days. She had to have a catheter to get a urine sample, which showed she also had an e. coli infection. She got over it pretty well, and has the appetite to prove it! She's eaten like a hungry monster since she got over the bug! Our only setback has been getting her to sleep in her bed all night. She slept in our room for the whole week while she was so sick, and now, she hates to sleep in her room. But we are making improvements, so hopefully we'll be back to normal soon.
As for Emily and I, we have about 8.5 weeks to go if all goes as planned, and we are doing well. I have been really tired, but other than that, things are pretty good.
Now Eric has the sinus infection that we've all been passing around, but he seems to be feeling better too. We've also had a good time getting used to the newest addition to our family, Sara Jane. I thought for sure that since she was an older kitty, she would be calm and not very active. Boy was I wrong! She plays more than our young cats, Ellie and Reecy. She likes to get in the washer machine when it's empty, hide in strange places, and make a huge mess when she eats her food. It's been quite an experience having her in our household! A little overdue!

We're a little overdue for an update! It's been a while since we last posted something, so I thought now would be a fine time to do it. We've been really busy since Christmas. We had a great Christmas, and Carrie was really into opening her gifts this year. Funny thing is, as you'll notice in the pics, that even though she got loads of clothes for her birthday and Christmas, she's naked in nearly all her pictures. I can't say that I blame her though. She is a hot box, just like me. And she especially hates to wear socks and shoes. Anytime we get in the car to go somewhere, the first thing you hear is the velcro from her shoes, then a thump as her shoes hit the floor of the car. Then it's the socks that come off next. The kid is silly! We've threatened to duck tape her shoes on...I'm sure she'd find a way around it though!
Carrie is now sleeping in her "big girl bed," a daybed we bought from some folks at church. It used to belong to her babysitter when she was young. She also got to move over to the bigger room to make room for Emily when she is born. Speaking of Emily...Carrie has finally started talking to her and patting my belly. She calls her Emily Grapes, instead of Emily Grace.
We had some pretty snow this past week on Tuesday, and I got to stay home with Carrie for most of the day. We finally ventured out in it at about 2:00 that afternoon, and Carrie wasn't sure about it at first. She eventually got interested in it and I nearly had to drag her back inside. She was all bundled up with her makeshift boots on, and I didn't have on too many layers. So needless to say, the wind was very hard to take! Later that day after Eric got home, we went over to Knock-Knock and Papa's and took her sledding on what was left of the snow, but she wasn't very fond of that. It had gotten really windy by that time, and it was so very cold.
I think I've included all I had to share. It's hard to remember it all when you wait so long to post! I'll have to do better with that. Until next time, enjoy the pictures. Take care!

More Christmas Pictures

Mary had a little lamb...

That's right, Carrie was a lamb in the Christmas program at church and she and Mary seemed to have a personal relationship! It really helped that Carrie's babysitter was Mary. They had quite a lot of fun during the program! Thank goodness Whitney was Mary, or Carrie would have been completely out of hand!

Halloween and Birthday fun!

What a busy few weeks it's been! Carrie dressed up as a kangaroo for Halloween and we made the rounds. She wasn't to thrilled about the whole thing, but perked up after we stopped by grandma and grandpa Gibbs' house and had some dinner. After that, she put on a show for Martha Jo and Whitney who came over to see the little kangaroo.

On November 8, we had a lot of fun with Carrie's 2nd birthday party. She had a My Little Pony Theme for her party, and she got tons of My Little Pony stuff for her birthday. She also got some awesome clothes and books, as well as a few other toys. She'll be the best dressed kid at school this fall, that's for sure! Carrie got to let her balloons go after the party, and she wanted them back at first but we all had a good laugh until the balloons were out of sight. My friend, Felicia, came down from Virginia for the weekend, and she was a huge help to me for the whole weekend. She and I went to college together and have kept up with each other ever since. Carrie loves her to death, but it took her a little while to remember who Felicia was this time. But once she remembered, she warmed up to her nicely. One of Felicia's nicknames is Fishy, and Carrie couldn't get Felicia out, so she called her Fishy. While Felicia was here, she went to the barn with me and took the championship pictures for Duchess and I since Duchess couldn't be at the last show. We had a lot of fun with her that weekend, and I can't wait for our next visit!

Carrie will be moving up to her 2 year old class at school on the 24th, and we are excited for that to happen. We'll update soon so check back!
