Fun Times

We've been really busy with life since my last post. Emily is getting so big, and I truly can't believe how fast she's growing. It's too fast for me! She's trying to pull herself up and is all into laughing. Carrie can dance for her and Emily just laughs at her. Carrie is saying so many new things every day. We really have to watch what we say, because there's been a few times she's said sh*t or damn it! I'm really tired tonight, so I won't be writing much. Here's some pics to tell the story! Enjoy!

Emily weighed in at a whopping 11.14 lbs and was 22.5 inches long. She's got reflux, so we've got her on medicine for that. Other than that, she's doing great!

It's been a while since our last post and I'm not about to try and go back over all that time! Emily is doing great. She goes for her first checkup and shots today, June 23. She's growing like a weed. She's starting to smile a lot, and even laugh a little bit. She likes to be up on your shoulder so she can see everything and is able to really hold her head up now good. She is sleeping through the night, which is definetely a good thing now that Eric and I are both working again.
Carrie is getting really good at being the big sister. She likes to help out, especially giving Emily her pacifier back when she's dropped it. She also likes to help burp Emily. We're working on getting Carrie potty trained, which hasn't been so easy since we can't give it our full attention. But she is doing better every week, so that's good.
I started back to work yesterday and it wasn't so bad. Emily starts school on July 6th, so she has about a week and a half to go. I'm excited for her to start, because for at least a few weeks, she'll be the only one in her class. That means we'll be getting private care for her for half the cost, and that's something to be excited about!
We've had an exciting summer so far. Last weekend, Ike and Karly and their kids came up to NC from TX and the kids got to play together and even had a trip to the zoo. Carrie had her first dairy farm trip with her Papa Tom. She was pretty scared of the big cows, but when we got to the babies and also the pigs, she was all excited.

Our growing family

Emily Grace has arrived! She was born on April 23 at 11:07 am after a very eventful few weeks. She is doing great despite all we went through. 9 days in the hospital away from my immediate family has made me that much more grateful for them. I know it was rough on Eric while I was gone, but boy am I grateful to be home and relatively healthy, and with a sweet little baby girl who's healthy as well.
I don't remember much about my stay at the hospital immediately after Emily was born, mostly due to the powerful anti-seizure drugs I was on, along with the pain meds as well. I ended up in the Adult ICU for a few days before being moved down to a regular room, and it's probably a good thing I don't remember much about it. I'm thankful for the doctors who took such great care of me and had enough sense to admit me to the hospital instead of sending me back home.
We're all adjusting pretty good for right now. Emily mostly sleeps and eats, and that's about all there is to her day. She has been keeping her eyes open for more time each day, and it's so exciting to see her stare at you when you talk to her. She wasn't eating well at first when we were in the hospital, but after a few changes, she has found her appetite. The pediatrician also thinks maybe she had some of the narcotics I had been given in her system still.
Carrie is doing extremely well with her new little sister. She calls her Baby Emily, and loves to kiss her head. I let her help me hold Emily's bottle for a minute this morning, but we have to work on that a little. It'll come with time. She's a good little helper for me.

Spring time weather and waiting for Emily to arrive

It's been a while since our last post, and not much has changed. One thing that has changed, however, is the weather. We're experiencing spring weather at it's best, with those evening storms expected tonight and lovely warm temps during the day. It's been a little on the breezy side, but as long as it's a warm breeze, that's ok! We're all just waiting for Emily to finally arrive. We had an ultrasound yesterday and she weighs 6 lbs. and 11 oz. and is measuring 1 week ahead of schedule. The doctor has said if she were to be born right now, she would more than likely be perfectly fine. She's a week shy of when Carrie was born (36 weeks). But we've been gearing up for her arrival by getting her room ready and buying a few must-have items. Knock-Knock and Papa Tom have been helping out a lot by taking Carrie to school for me since I've been on bed rest, and also taking Carrie on a few outings on Saturdays and Sundays so Eric and I can have a few hours of down-time. You'll see from the pics that Carrie has been having a blast. She reminds me every day that Emily will be here soon and that she wants to play with Emily.
