Ear infections, hurt horses...does it ever end?

Carrie has her third ear infection since she had her tubes put in. It makes me wonder if they are really helping? It's nice with the tubes though, because she doesn't get the fever and act like she feels bad. She just has really nasty stuff in her ears. But I can handle that and putting drops in her ears!

We all went to the barn today to visit Duchess. Apparently during our last round of snowy weather, Duchess was playing a little too hard and has sprained a ligament in her lower leg. In people, this is serious. With horses, it's very serious, to the point of causing major problems in her future if we don't take the time to let it heal properly. So she is on complete stall rest until Thursday, and the vet will be out then to assess her and see where we go next. Stall rest with any other horse is okay, but Duchess HATES to be in her stall any longer than over night. It really stresses her out, so we have to watch her and make sure she doesn't hurt herself or get too crazy. She'll probably be getting some drugs to help keep her calm!
Carrie is adding to her vocabulary everyday it seems like, and she has a bunch of new teeth! Check back soon for more updates and pictures.
