We have had beautiful weather lately, and it was especially nice this weekend for the horse show. The Saturday portion of the show didn't go so well. Duchess feet were sore from the hard footing, and she didn't want to jump. So Mom fell off at one jump in our first round, then Duchess refused to jump in our second round. After three refusals, the judge excuses you from the ring. On Sunday, things went a little better, and we ended up with a 3rd place in one class. Duchess had had some pain meds, so her feet were a little better. But overall, it went okay. Duchess is getting older, so we expect her to have those "off days," and that's all this was.
Carrie got to ride Duchess for the first time on Sunday, while holding onto Dad's hand. Before, she had just sat on her, but today, she loved it when we were walking. She also enjoyed being in the barn with the other horses from our group, and peaking at them through the cracks in the walls and doors. She thoroughly enjoyed herself. Until next time, take care!
