A homecoming of sorts

Duchess looks better than we thought she would. Her belly is shaved underneath completely and she's really skinny. She'll gain the weight back soon. Here she is in her stall, happy to be home.
This is the outside stall the guys built for Duchess. She's extremely happy here, much more so than she is in her regular stall. She even has a little place beside her for a buddy. Carrie wanted to go in with her.
The girls. We were ordered to sit on the ground by Carrie. When she points to the ground and says "Seat," we sit.
Happy to be at the barn running around.
Carrie's grandpa put her in the wheelbarrow with the hay, and she loved it.

Duchess got to come home Saturday, and I can't be any happier. When we got to the vet school to pick her up, I walked in her stall and she was clearly very upset with me. I knew this because she turned her rear end to me, which is a sign of not liking someone very much in the equine world. She warmed up to me though, once she realized she was going home. We've had an exciting and very stressful week, and I am still feeling out of sorts. After the car accident on our way to Raleigh to visit Duchess, I was sore for a day or two. The soreness went away, however, now I have a little neck pain and I've had a headache for a week. So it's been pretty rough, but having Duchess home has helped quite a bit.

Carrie is learning new things every day, and is saying all kinds of things. She's even learned how to turn a flip - not sure where she learned that, but she knows. She told me the other day that she needed to peepee on the potty. That's a first. We usually take her to use it when she wakes up, but that's it. However, on that particular morning, she told me she needed to go, and she did it! I was so proud of her. She's been a really good girl this weekend, even with all of the excitement and us being so busy. Eric has been busy getting the insurance stuff taken care of and all that good stuff. We've also been busy planning Carrie's birthday party and can't wait for that weekend to get here. It's hard to believe she'll be two years old very soon!
