An Awesome Horse Show!

This weekend, I had the experience of a lifetime, and it was long overdue! We had a horse show and I agreed to only show Saturday since Sunday was Father's Day. Duchess was an angel. After we finished our first round of jumping, my trainer, Becky, told me that was the best round we had ever had. So I was very excited about doing our second round. We had one minor mistake, but it didn't cost us too much. Still, another awesome round for us. Later in the day, we went back to the ring to do our walk, trot, canter class (aka "the hack" or "the flat") and while we were in there, the announcer called the placings for the first round. We won first! Then the placings were announced for the second round, and we won third! By this time, I was nearly in tears from excitement and the thrill from it all. After we did our hack, my trainer told me that I may have won the championship. I had to stand and wait with Duchess for what seemed like an eternity, but finally, the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion were called. We won the Grand Champion!!! I have no clue who got the Reserve...I was so happy with Duchess that it felt as if we were the only two in the world at that moment!
I had to share this story with you guys. We are proof that there is reward for hard work and patience! At first, I was bummed about not showing both days. But after that, I was ok with not showing. Duchess deserved the day off for working so hard for me and being such an angel!

Congrats to you!
Sunday morning was such a challenge with no electricity at home - then at Centre - maybe I missed this news. So proud of you, your patience, and hard work. Photos are great - thanks for sharing.
